Bilonda
Bilonda was in and out of the foster care system for 5 years of her life. She was so scared to enter foster care as a young girl and ended up having to bounce around to 5 different foster homes.
Each home she was in had new rules and the hardest part for her was having no say or control over her own life. The constant moving, switching schools, and changing environments affected her severely. She had no stability or peace because with a single phone call, her life as she knew it would be uprooted and completely changed as if it never existed. At 18, she aged out of the system alone.
Today, with all odds against her, she has chosen health and healing for her future. Eating healthy and taking care of her body is very important to her. Bilonda dreamed of starting her own fitness business to share what she has learned.
Through Dream Makers’ generous donors, we were able to assist in purchasing equipment and apparel for her business to bring her business to the next level! She is now living out her dream and owns a small business that offers workout plans, apparel, and training services to others.
In her own words, “My dream being fulfilled has impacted my business and allowed it to grow. I’m also able to offer more apparel and have better camera equipment and quality. Ultimately, this has increased my sales within my company. I can’t lose because I wasn’t supposed to make it this far. I put God first in my life, and He ain’t let up on me since. I pray a little harder because I know where I could’ve ended up, is not where I am today. God brought me this far, and I know He’s not done with my journey yet. I got a testimony to share. Thankful for every step of the way.”
Good things continue to happen to Bilonda, and recently, she got hired to model for Nike! She continues to blow us all away by overcoming what no one should even have to experience. We love getting to cheer Bilonda on and are grateful for our community of donors that make stories like hers of dreams fulfilled possible.
Not only do we help youth like Bilonda strive to reach their dreams, we also offer the youth of Dream Makers help when they really need it, behind the scenes. We provide food and other emergency needs when times get tough and there's no one else to call. Though we cannot replace the support of a family, we can come alongside these youth and give so that their futures are brighter than their pasts.
