Joelle

Joelle is a creative and artistic deep thinker. She spent seven years in foster care before aging out and has clung to passion for art, using it as a way to deeply express herself.

Her hopes for the future include speaking to others about her story through pieces that she has created and fashioned with her own hands.

Through Dream Makers, her dream for creative tools and resources to be able to make her art prints available to share with others was fulfilled.

Joelle has always been a storyteller, and through art and usage of artifacts like old pills and paperwork from previous hospital stays, she hopes to tell not only her story, but stories of the long line of women with bipolar from whom she descends.

As Joelle says, “I know that I can produce thought- provoking work, and I know I need support to do it. Take the pain in your heart and make it art.”
